Recipe | orchard baked pork

Since moving out of my parents house over a year ago now, I have the weekly chore of food shopping. Don't get me wrong I love seeing my fridge, freezer and cupboards full with delicious food but actually having to go and get it all and put it away I don't love as much. I like to shop at Aldi, the food taste great and is such good value for money. For those of you who shop there you will know they have an Aldi super six fresh fruit and veg offer and an Aldi super six meat offer on all the time then the products on the offer change fortnightly. The products that are on this offer are even cheaper than usual, making it even better value for money.

Every fortnight I have a peek on there website to see what the offers are to see what I can get. As well as displaying the offers they show you an Aldi super six recipe, which is a meal using products that are on the Aldi super six offer to give you some inspiration. The recipes this time was Orchard baked pork, which looked and sounded delicious, so I thought I would give it ago. The ingredients and recipe is to feed 4 people but I just halved everything to make it for two.

Ingredients -

2x 300g specially selected pork loin steaks
3x royal gala apples
1 pack of 4 fresh figs
20ml olive oil
30g salted butter melted
2x 135g packs of baby sweet corn
600g Charlotte potatoes
Sea salt and black pepper
Butter, to serve

Method -

  • Pre-heat the oven to 200c/400f/gas mark 6.
  • Put the potatoes on a baking tray - prick with a fork and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Put the pork steaks in a roasting tin, drizzle over the olive oil, season with some black pepper and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile core the apples and chop into small chunks.
  • Cut the figs into the same size pieces.
  • Take the pork steaks out of the oven, sprinkle the apples and figs around the steaks, drizzle over the melted butter then return to the oven and cook for another 20 minutes.
  • Cook the baby corn in some salted boiling water for 5 minutes - drain and serve alongside the pork and baked potatoes with some butter.

The meal taste delicious and went down a treat at the dinner table. The ingredients that were on the Aldi super six fruit and veg offer were . . .

  • Royal gala apples
  • Pack of 4 fresh figs
  • 135g packs of baby sweet corn
  • Charlotte potatoes
These were all on the offer price of 59p. The pork loin steaks were on the Aldi super six offer at £1.49. This offer is on until the Wednesday the 7th of October, so why not give this Recipe a go. Even if someone else is the cook in your house why not give them a break.

Visit the Aldi website to see what else is on offer and keep checking to see what is new on offer.

It's been another quite week for me again, I'm going to be having a few quite weeks throughout October while I save up some spending money for London. I still got myself a little treat and enjoyed myself tho, so here's what made me smile . . .

1) Celebrating my boyfriends, sisters birthday.
2) Adding to my colourful, Lottie London, makeup brush collection.
3) Relaxing in the sauna, steam room and hot tub.
4) Enrolling onto my university course.
5) Indulging in garlic bread and cheesy chips with my friend whilst have a good old gossip.

What's cheered you up this week?

Autumn OOTD

As much as I love sitting in the sun, going to the beach and having BBQ's, Autumn and winter have to be my favourite time of the year. I love wearing cosy jumpers, going on walks through the fallen leaves and sipping hot chocolates by the fire in an evening. And I just love Halloween (also my birthday) bonfire night and of course CHIRSTMAS! I feel a lot more body confident in the autumn/winter seasons and love the autumnal coloured clothing.
~
I did a little bit of shopping last weekend and picked up a few autumn items and I love the outfit I put together so I thought I would share it with you. It is perfect for the weather at the moment, you can wear a jumper without a jacket and a skirt with a thin pair of tights. In autumn I love to wear monochrome with a statement coloured piece. This mustard coloured jumper has autumn written all over it!
~

Jumper ~ I bought this jumper from H&M for just £7.99 but it doesn't seem to be on website but Here is a similar one for £12.99.

Skirt ~ The skirt is also from H&M for £12.99 but is also not on the website (my H&M must get different things in) but they have many similar shirts on the Website.

Hat ~ This hat is from primark for £8. I am in love with these fedora hats this season I love this Grey one from H&M for £19.99 but it was out of my budget for that day.

Necklace ~ This necklace was in there sale section for £1.50 so you can look out for it in you local top shop but this One is very similar for £12.50 and is available online.

Shoes ~ I bought these last year from new look, this Pair are very similar for £24.99.
~
My look for this autumn will be monochrome with a pop of autumnal colour, what will yours be?

Benefit they're real

If you have read my previous post you will no I went to a benefit makeup party at my local debenhams. I picked up the radiant skin care sample set (you can read the blog post Here) and the They're real mascara which came with a sample size They're real push-up eyeliner and sample size They're real remover

We got to try out all the products at the makeup party, when I tried the mascara it was love at first sight. It instantly lifted my lashes and gave them so much volume, it really opened up my eyes and looked lovely against eyeshadow.

Here's how the website says to apply it . . .

(Almost) too gorgeous to be true

Nothing faux about it...turn heads with a wink that’s beyond belief. Take your pretty positions: Hold the wand horizontally and give the brush a wiggle wiggle from side to side & base to tip, to achieve maximum volume, length and lift. Flip you grip. Hold the wand vertically and stroke upward to curl & separate. Layer generously, as you wish. "
You can get the mascara in black, brown and blue. I purchased it in black as I wanted it as an everyday mascara but friend bought it in blue as well. When she tried it on it looked amazing, it really made her blue eyes stand out and looked lovely with her blonde hair. If you have blonde hair and blue eyes I would recommend you trying the blue colour.

I love the mascara and wear every time I want to make my eyes pop!

I didn't want to buy the eyeliner or remover but they came free in sample sizes with the mascara. I'm not very good at applying eyeliner and I don't like on me either but I gave it a go at the party anyway. Well I just got myself in a mess and had to remove it, and you NEED the remover to get rid of it! I was disappointed that I couldn't get along with it as it has a accuflex tip for easy application and is water and smudge proof, but I'm just not an eyeliner kind of person. However if you are then I would suggest giving it a go, I gave it to my sister and she loved it.

Here's how the website says to apply it . . .

“Pro liner looks, no experience needed”

Ooh la la, it’s your first time? Prep the pen by removing the orange AccuFlex™ tip protector (you can toss ‘er). Twist base until gel appears on tip, then wipe off excess.

Now do it on the daily. First things first—clean the tip: Start by wiping off leftover gel on the AccuFlex™ tip before each use. Slowly twist the base until a tiny amount of gel appears on the tip. Rest the tip on the base of your lashes and guide along your lashline from either the inner or outer corner. The angled AccuFlex™ tip works both ways, with pleasure.

You can purchase the eyeliner in black, brown, blue, purple and green! So you can really go to town and create some gorgeous looks.

Have you tried any of the benefit makeup products?

Things that have made me smile | week 10

This week has been a bit of a tiring one for me, so the weekend has consisted of not doing much but relaxing. But there is still things that have made me smile, even if it's just hitting the snooze button.

1) Coming home from work on Friday, after a long week, and my boyfriend had a bath run ready for me to jump in and relax. (I was in my pj's by 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon).
2) Getting a lovely bonus from my boss for all my work, she is too good to me.
3) Pigging out on fast food for most of the week (thanks to my boss) we just don't won't to get fat on our own. But a subway or fish and chips for lunch does brighten up your day a little bit.
4) Having a chilled out Saturday going for lunch with my boyfriend (subway again) and having a stroll around some shops. (I need to eat healthy food this week and get to the gym) and having cuddles with my bunny.
5) Writing this post on a Sunday morning whilst laid in bed drinking coffee and not really having to move.

Even if you've had a stressful or tiring week, there is always something that has brought a little smile to your face. It may be getting tucked up in bed after a long day or cooking your favourite tea on an evening. What is it that has brought a smile to your face this week?

MUA - heaven and earth eyeshadow palette

I have only ever bought a MUA lipstick and that was way back when I didn't really have a clue what to do with makeup. After watching Becca roses beauty haul I had to have a look at the MUA products.
~
I was shopping for some new eye shadow palettes so that's what I looked at. I picked up the Heaven and Earth palette for just £4 from superdrug. The palette consist of 12 Matt neutral shades, perfect for the up coming autumn months.

The colours are. . .
Top | Aurora, Amazonian Bronze, Babylon, Myan Dust, Valley, Golden Sand.
Bottom | Rift, Amber dune, Cata-comb, Tectonite, Canyon, Bedrock

I created this dark red tone somkey eye using, Aurora in the inner corners, Canyon on the lids and valley on the outter corner and crease.
~
They were so easy to apply and blend and looked lovely on, I still can't believe it was only £4, I can't wait to go back and pick up a few more.

Have you tried any MUA products?

They are a great idea for uni students wanting a quick tasty treat. There are so many different recipes you can try, there's something for everyone's taste.

There's so many sweet, chocolaty recipes, but i wanted to make something a little less sickly so I went ahead and made the blueberry mug cake. This is essentially a blueberry muffin so it's perfect for a quick breakfast or just a treat. Either way it's easy to make and taste great too.

2) Cook in the microwave for about 1 minute. If cake is not done, heat an additional 15 seconds. Let the cake cool a few minutes before eating. It's best consumed still warm or within a few hours after been cooked.
~

Birch box | September

September marks the month of birchbox's 5th birthday, I can't believe it has been around for five years and I only came across it a couple of months ago, I've been missing out this whole time. They started of in the USA so everything in this box hails from there. Here's what's inside . . .

1) HAILING FROM NYC
Facial polish | £26
WHAT | Going through a skincare rough patch? Look no further than this luxe facial exfoliator! Micro beads gently buff away dead skin cells while the rich formulation leaves the skin.
HOW | Massage into clean, damp skin using circular motions then rinse with warm water. Use every two to three days for best results.

2) HAILING FROM NYC
Citrus Neroli Detangler | £16
WHAT | Wave goodbye to knots and tangles with this little miracle worker! Coconut oil and wheat amino acids help to nourish strands while neroli and grapefruit soothe troubleshoot scalps.
HOW | Apply to wet, clean hair and leave for 1-3 minutes. Either rinse away or use as a leave in treatment.

3) HAILING FROM BROOKLYN
Cheeky lip pencil in cray-cray | £17
WHAT | There's nothing we love more than a product that multi-tasks and this coral peach crayon does it beautifully! Easy to apply and ultra pigmented, it's the easiest way to add a pop of colour to lips and cheeks.
HOW | Apply straight from the bullet, wherever you need a flush of colour, and blend with fingers.

4) HAILING FROM NYC
Beauty Wash | £8
WHAT | We wouldn't expect anything less than a sumptuous fragrance from this exclusive to birch box brand, but the rich, foaming texture of this in-shower body wash is something to love too!
HOW | Massage into damp skin, working into a lather, and rinse away. For a little something extra, add a dollop to your bath if you fancy!

5) HAILING FROM SAN FRANCISCO
the POREfessional: licence to blot | £15.50
WHAT | The latest warrior in the battle against shinny T-zones, this unique oil-blotting stick uses tiny blotting spheres to mattify shine for up to 6 hours.

6) BEAUTY BONUS
The Birchbrush | £5.99 (birchbox exclusive)
WHAT | Work out knots, tame tresses, and smooth your hair's surface with this super-cute, and oh-so-effective, brush.
HOW | Pop it in your handbag for perfectly-tamed locks, even when you're on the go!

I feel like this box was all all about the hair and skin, which I can never have enough products for. My favourites were the, Birchbrush and the, cheeky lip pencil. The Birchbrush glides through my hair so easily with no pulling and tames my frizz, it is the perfect size for my handbag which I love as I always need a hairbrush for my fringe and easy tangled hair. I love the lip pencil as you can also use it on your checks which makes its so much more practical for carrying round and makes your handbag that little bit lighter.

What did you get in your box this month? What products would you like to try?

Rituals rice scrub

I received the Rituals rice scrub in this months Augusts Birch box, I had never heard of the brand and just thought it was just another exfoliator. I used once while I was in the shower but I was in a rush so I didn't really take my time, I just slapped it on and wash it of, so I didn't think much to it a first.
~
It wasn't until I used the Rituals rice scrub properly in the bath that I discovered how amazing it is! This is what it says on the tube. . .

Calming body scrub | Mild cleansing body scrub that transforms in contact with water into a silky foaming exfoliation cream. Enriched with calming cherry blossom and organic white rice.
Use | massage the body scrub onto damp skin using circular movements. Rinse with warm water.

I shaved my legs, then scrubbed this all of my body, rinsed it of and moisturised. My skin felt amazing and any dry cracked skin had been removed and felt silky smooth. This smell isn't strong is just a simple fresh sent then makes you feel clean and refreshed. The product is really soft on the skin unlike some Exfoliator that can be quite harsh and sting the skin if used after shaving.
If you struggle the remove dry skin or just love that silky smooth skin feel then I would definitely recommend the Rituals rice scrub. A little bit goes s long way so a 150ml bottle will last you a long time, you can buy a 150ml bottle from the Birch box website for £10.

Have you tried this product or any other rituals products before?

Maybelline lash sensational mascara

You have probably seen this mascara everywhere, but it was actually my mum that told me to get this, and you know what they say always listen to your mother. I am very glad I did, this mascara has to be maybelline's best mascara, I'd go as far as saying drugstores best mascara. The curved brush picks up all the lashes and gives them so much volume and colour it's like putting falsies on. Although it gives a lot of volume and colour it doesn't make your lashes clump together, it actually spreads them out to show each individual lash giving a fuller lash look.

~
You can pick up this mascara for just £7.99 at Superdrug, they also have a 3 for 2 offer on maybelline products as well. Here's what they say about the product. . .

Favourites | August

Its been a bit of a strange month this month, the weather hasn't been great, I've not been at work but to end the month I've jetted of to Greece, Zante to enjoy some sun, sea and cocktails. From sunny Greece here are my favourites this month . . .

I am so glad I got this before I went away, it has got my skin feeling so soft and the best it has ever been, you can read my post on the product here.

Rimmel stay Matt powder
I use to use this powder all the time then it got shoved to the back of the draw while I tried some new products. This month it's has creeped it's way back to the front and is staying, it gives such a flawless Matt finish.

This is another reappearance, after my sister used it all up my mum replaced, it reminded me how much I loved it. It is the perfect nude shade, I'll be using it on my holiday.

Revolution redemption palette essentials mattes 2
This palette has some beautiful Matt colours in it to create many gorgeous looks and it is only £4. I've been using this all month, I've created some simple looks and some more dramatic bolder looks all using this palette. They do more palettes so I can't wait to go and pick some more up.

Converse
I bought these shoes to wear my heal inserts in, this month I've hardly had them of. They've gone perfectly with the weather as it's not been too hot or too cold. I bought the high top ones as that's what I needed to enable me to wear my shoe inserts. I was a bit worried at first that they wouldn't go with much but I found they going with pretty much everything.

Hot chocolate
I no it's a winter drink but since we haven't had much sun I couldn't resist starting the hot chocolates early this year.

Music
I have been loving Meghan Trainor this month all of her songs are great and she just gives me so much confidence for not been thin. The song I've looked the most is Walkashame.

TV
It has to be pretty little liars, the reveal of A had us all in the edge of our seats. My and my boyfriend actually got up at four in the morning to watch it before he went to work, we just could wait to find out who it was. I was so happy with finding out who it was but I was a little disappointed that it was Cece, the storyline was good but I'm hoping there's more.

What have been your favourites this month?
