Body confidence

We all find our body confidence in different ways, some through other people, some through exercise and like me through clothes and makeup. I probably spend far too much money on clothes and makeup although they are just very pretty I also have other reasons for my constant purchases. Feeling good in what I'm wearing and feeling pretty in my makeup gives me so much more confidence. If I were to walk out the house with no makeup and joggers I wouldn't feel confident at all. I'm not saying that you shouldn't I admire everyone that can! Until I've put on my face and an outfit I feel good in I will shy away from a crowd and try not to be noticed. It seems silly but I just don't feel confident.

I think it all started when I was younger. When I was eight years old I was diagnosed with Perthes disease. This is a condition that effects the hip joint. The ball in my hip basically crumpled flat, then when it formed back together it didn't form a perfect ball which causes me a lot of pain when walking, sitting in the same position for a while and exercising. The condition can effect both hips but fortunately for me it just effects my left hip. You can read more about the disease Here. Because of the condition my left leg is a cm and a half shorter than my right. Because of this when I'm walking in public I feel like a lot of people look at me when I am limping which caused me to feel very insecure and not really won't to go out in public. After gaining confidence from the kind words of family, friends and my boyfriend I decided to not let it get me down. I chose to change my image and learn how to do my makeup properly. This gave me so much more confidence and I thought that at least if people are looking at me they may notice my hair, makeup and clothes and not my limp.

I finally got some new shoe inserts form the hospital which were the right size and fitted in my shoes perfectly. They lift my left leg up to be the same as my right, this causes less pain and prevents me from limping. This is great but it does limit me to the shoes I can wear them with which is something I have to consider when buying shoes and outfits.

I had an operation when I was eight to help the condition where my legs were in pots from top to bottom, not my feet, with a bar across my knees to keep them in a wide v position. I was like this for six weeks and when I walked for those six weeks it caused my back to push in slightly which causes my stomach to stick out a little more than usual. I'm not the skinniest of girls but this sure doesn't help, of cause this doesn't help with my body confidence either so I tend to buy clothes that don't cling to my body.

Despite all of this, I guess I'm trying to say clothes, makeup and shoes really can help a person to feel so much more confidence and we shouldn't put them down if they like to spend their money on those things. However you find body confidence, do what you need to make you happy!

What gives you confidence?

Things that have made me smile | week 37

Happy Easter! This weeks bath bomb had to be from the Easter collection!
Lush bath bomb | Which came first

Things that have made me smile |

This week hasn't been all smiles, on Wednesday my dad was taken into hospital and is still there now, to make things worse he is in a hospital and hour an half away from where I live as he was working their and is to Ill to be moved. He is getting better and should hopefully be home soon. That does however bring me to the top of my list of things that have made me smile. . .

  1. Going to visit my dad in hospital, it's wasn't nice seeing him like that but I'm happy I could go and see him.
  2. After seeing my dad enjoying a 3 course meal with my sisters and boyfriend.
  3. Having a lovely Easter Sunday with a gorgeous roast dinner and of course lots of chocolate!
  4. Treating my self to a new bag, trousers and jewellery from primark.
  5. Finally getting the shoes I want from asos and an outfit from Zara. Head to my Instagram to see them.
I hope you've had a lovely week and lovely Easter!

Easter carrot cake cupcakes

These cute carrot cake cupcakes will look lovely on the table for an afternoon Easter treat with the family, or as a desert if you haven't indulged in to much food at dinner time. They are simple and quick to make and taste delicious.

I took the recipe from the Tesco website.
You will need |
3 medium sized carrots, peeled and grated
150g of self raising flower
80g of unsalted butter
2 medium eggs
100g of brown sugar
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
Half a tsp of bicarbonate of soda
2 medium eggs
A pinch of salt
80g of golden syrup
Cream cheese icing
Mini eggs

How to |

Step 1 | Preheat your oven to180 degrees and line your baking tray with10 bun cases.

Step 2 | Place the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a large pan, put on a medium heat and melt all the ingredients together.

Step 3 | Once the ingredients have combined remove the pan from the heat and add the flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda, ground cinnamon, grated carrot and eggs to your mixture. Mix well together until you have a smooth batter. It doesn't look like very nice but the end result is delicious.

Step 4 | Spoon your mixture into your bun cases and place in the oven for 20-25 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean from the centre of the cakes. Once cooked leave to cool.

Step 5 | For the topping I cheated and bought a cream cheese frosting from Aldi, I just spooned it into a piping bag and squeezed it onto the top of my cakes. I then added a mini egg to the centre of each cake. If you would like to make your own cream cheese icing you can read how on the Tesco recipe

Easter lush haul

It wouldn't be Easter without an Easter lush haul, I picked up five of their Easter products, 4 bath bombs and one bubble bar. I love this years colourful collection and the products are super cute this year!
What I got |

Bath bombs |
Humpty Dumpty | £6.95
This has to be the cutest from the collection, with his little blue trousers and big beaming smile I'm going to find it had to dunk him in my bath. At £6.95 it is one of the more expensive bombs but you do actually get three bath bombs for the price of one! That's right this bath bomb is actually three, you crack Humpty against the side of your bath and he splits in half leaving a surprise in the centre. You then use each piece separately.
Which came first | £6.95
This is just like the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb, it is three in one. It's a giant egg with a blue pattern on one side and a yellow pattern on the other. You crack the egg on the side of the bath to reveal a cute little chick. This bomb has a sweet citrusy smell and can be used three times or thrown in all in one go.
Fluffy egg | £2.95
This is a smaller egg then the other two but just as nice, it's a fuchsia pink colour with a small coloured flower on each side which spin out when the bath bomb begins to fizz. It has a gorgeous sweet smell that's sure to get you in the mood for a chocolate egg.
Golden egg | £3.95
This has to be the messiest bath bomb, with its golden, sparkly glitter you will get a glittery gold bath  to make your skin shimmer. It has a toffee, chocolaty scent and is full of moisturising olive oil to leave your skin super soft.

Bubble bar |

Bunch of carrots | £6.25
These aren't your typically orange carrots, they are three bright colours that will turn your bath a wonderful colour when crumbled under running water. £6.25 is a little pricey but you get three carrots and they are reusable so you can use as much or as little as you want. They have a tropical scent and look adorable.

What's your favourite product from the Easter collection?

Weekend walks and coffee shops

Sometimes the simplest of weekends can be the best, not doing much and just taking time out from work and other distractions. I've not been very well this week so when the weekend rolled around I just want to do something simple and relax. The weather really improved this weekend, the birds were singing and the sun was shining so the camera came out and we took our selves on a quiet, peaceful walk.

I can't walk far without becoming in pain, but we have a lovely park and a peaceful track right near us  so a quiet walk is never too far away. We actually discovered a new little track to wonder down, it was a little muddy but that made it all the more fun.

SKIRT - similar H&M
SHOES - New look
COAT - Tesco
BAG - similar New look

After taking in the scenery and taking a few photos we couldn't think of a more perfect way to warm up from the spring breeze than go for a cup of coffee in our favourite quirky coffee shop. A relaxed atmosphere with the most interesting decor, it is such a great place to go when you just want to chill on the sofa with a coffee but not be at home. Coffee in hand, live music in the background we chatted and laughed away the perfect Saturday afternoon, before heading back to an evening in front of the telly with our bunnies.

It was a quiet, relaxed weekend but it was just what I needed.

Getting the 'lob' cut

I use to long for long hair with loads of volume, I never had the patients to grow it, I would just get bored and get it cut. When I got to college I stopped getting it cut short and just dyed it when I got bored instead. It work I finally managed to grow my hair long, I loved it, I would curl it, straighten it, braid it, anything I use to love sitting in the mirror playing with it and creating new styles. Unfortunatly all the heat and dye really damaged my hair, it became weak and, although it was the length I had always dreamed of it just looked limp, dry and brittle.

With the new 'lob' haircut trending everywhere I decided it was time to let go of the long locks and give my hair the revitalising cut it was crying out for. I was a little anxious about getting it cut as I loved my long hair and loved creating new styles with it, but there are so my different styles and hair tutorials for short hair now I think you can do just as much as you can with long hair.

I took my inspiration from Lucy Hale, if your a pretty little liars fan you will know who this is. I took in a picture of her into the hairdressers and they began to snip. I went in with red hair (one of my boredom moments) but I wont'ed a natural colour that I wouldn't have to touch up much as I wont'ed  a fresh cut without damage. Since I was going for her style I thought I may as well copy her colour. My hairdresser bleached my ends first as they would take a while to lift from red to create the ombré effect. Once the bleach was on she added a natural brown colour to the rest of the hair starting from the root.

After a few cups of coffee, scrolling through social media and a numb bum it was finally time to wash the dye of. As she removed the tin foil from the ends we prayed the ends had took to the dye and hadn't gone a brassy, orange, yellow toned. During the washing procedure she put a toner on my hair to take away any brassy tones and to create a ashy light blonde finish on the ends.

There wasnt much to the cut as I didn't want any layers, Ive still got to be able to create that quick messy ponytail for work. The hairdresser cut more of the length to where I was happy, just a little past the shoulders, and shaped the cut.

Before blow drying she added and little volumising moose and blow dried it using a big barrelled brush. As for heat styling she used the straighteners to create a few messy loose curls.

I love the finished result and my hair feels so much healthier, it so easy to style in a rushed morning before work but I can still create many pretty more intricate looks too.

What style hair do you have? Would you ever get all your hair cut of?

Birch box | March

I think this months box was all about the full size products as I recieved three! I think the usual price of £10 for this months box was a bargain as the full size products alone total up to way more than that. I do suffer from dry lips but I was a little disappointed to see two lip balms in my box. They both seem like great products but I would have preferred to receive them in different month boxes. Apert from that I love the products in this months box and I'm very impressed with the amount of full size products.

Bonding bunnies

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that i have grown my bunny family. We have been talking about getting another bunny for a while now and have looked into the pros and cons off a getting our munchie a friend.

In the wild rabbits are always in groups and are very social animals, we would have got two rabbits the first time but we just didn't have the space at our old place. Now we are settled in our new home we took a trip to the pet shop a brought home our little peanut.

As munchie hasn't yet been spayed we had to get a girl as we didn't want lots of babies hopping around. The lovely worker gave us some great tips on helping the bunnies bond, as two girls aren't always the easiest to bond. Here are some tips she shared and a few from our own experience to help your bunnies become the best of friends.

1. Let your bunnies meet in an area non of them have been in before, this can be any room even the bathroom. I just helps the bunny you already have not get territorial.

2. Keep the space they are in small to prevent chasing, if the bunnies start fighting spraying them with a little water on the head will stop them. It usually makes them stop to clean themselves distracting them from each other.

3. Introduce them for 20 minutes at time until you see them start to become friends.

4. Before keeping them in the same cage/hutch, keep them IN separate ones a few cm apart so they can smell and see each other but can not nip each other.

5. Keep swapping the toys they have in their cages between them and a little bit of each other's sawdust and poo so they can get the scent of each other.

6. It is easier to bond bunnies that have been spayed and neutered, my local pets at home are currently  building their vets and as soon as it opens at the end of the month I will be getting them both spayed.

7. Finally make sure bonding time is a fun and rewarding time that is a pleasurable experience for your bunnies. Have food and treats out for them which will make them won't to come back next time.

Have fun giving your bunny a new friend.

Pink and nude Spring makeup

Base |

Cheeks |

Eyes |

Lips |

I used the white shade (1) all over my lid as a base colour, then the soft pale pink colour (2) on top. From the centre of the lid to the outer corner I blended in the light metallic pink shade (3) finishing with the darker metallic pink shade (4) blended into the outter cornor and the bottom lash line. After falling in love with the Maybelline lash sensation mascara I couldn't wait to try out the new falsies push up drama mascara, it seperates the lashes evenly giving loads of volume so you don't have to put on the falsies.

I don't know how I ever survived with out a lip scrub, they are amazing they take away all the dead skin and leave my lips perfectly prepped for lipstick, it also tastes great which is a bonus. I loved the maybelline rosewood pearl lipstick so I went back for more and picked up the brown, nude, velvet beige shade. It looks lovely for a simple toned down look, perfect for the upcoming Spring months.

Let me know if you use any of these products, what you think of them and if you would wear this makeup look.
