Things that have made me smile |
  1. After a long, busy week at work having a cup coffee in bed on a Saturday morning was just what I needed. I loved not having to set my alarm this week and just being able to set in bed whilst sipping a hot cup of coffee.
  2. Doing some Christmas shopping, strolling around the Christmas market and seeing the lights being turned on in my local town. I love Christmas markets and seeing all the Christmas lights.
  3. Treating myself to some new winter boots and a cosy jumper, there's nothing better than being cosy and warm in a soft new jumper.
  4. Purchasing a some pretty new nails varnishes and makeup bits.
  5. Putting up my Christmas tree! I just couldn't wait any longer my home is now full of lots of pretty lights and looks very festive and cosy.
I hope you have all had a lovely week, have you out your tree up yet?

Winter coat

There's no  denying that the temperature has dropped and winter is arriving. The first thing on my wish list in winter is a new coat. I like them plain and simple so they go with everything, something I can wear throughout the whole of winter.
This year I opted for a classic camel coat. Thick, warm flattering and of course with a huge hood to keep the rain away. There's something about the classic camel colour it just looks really classy and makes any outfit sophisticated. I was lucky enough to be treated to this gorgeous coat by my fiancé in my birthday. It is from Miss selfidge, a shop I don't go in to that often as there isn't one in my local town, but I'm glad I did when I was in the search for a new winter coat.
It's a traditional fit with gorgeous fasten detailing. It fastens half way down so it still gives your legs freedom to move. I sized up when purchasing this coat as I love wearing thick cosy jumpers in the winter. It fits perfectly over knit wear and as you can see the camel colour goes lovely with a festive tartan scarf.
I wore a khaki skirt from New look and a soft cosy knitted jumper jumper from matalan. This knitted jumper is also camel so I broke up the colour with this tartan scarf from primark. My winter wardrobe  is usually full of plain dark or grey colours. This khaki skirt adds a little colour to my winter wardrobe and also looks a little festive.

What kind of coat are you rocking this winter?

London Christmas market

After a long, busy week we wanted to so something fun at the weekend. After searching the Internet we decided on a day trip to London. We booked the mega bus for just £46.50 for 2 returns. We started the day with a costa gingerbread latte before catching the bus at 8.30 am. Upon arrival we went to a quite little pub for lunch and a cheeky beer. After stuffing our faces we headed to Covent Garden to see the Christmas decorations, lights and of course the huge Christmas tree. This made me feel very festive so we headed to the Christmas market.
I love Christmas markets, the stalls, lights and of course festive food and drinks. We walked around stalls stalls and bought a cute personalised Christmas decoration. Even though we hadn't long had lunch we couldn't resist the mini pancakes. There were so many toppings to choose from but we went for Nutella and bounty sauce. They were delicious! On our way out we spotted a photo booth which we just couldn't walk by. It had a sleigh and fake snow and was a lot of fun and completely free including the pictures which was great.
We warmed up with an orange hot chocolate on m&s which just happened to be next door to lush. Oxford street lush is three stories high and and just amazing. They do some Oxford street exclusive products which my lovely finance bought me a few of to put away for Christmas. We then headed home and dove into bed as it was a long but fun and festive day.

Have you been to any Christmas markets yet?

Things that have made me smile |
  1. This week I started to get a little festive, don't worry I don't have my tree up yet, it's still a little early for that. But I did make a few festive purchases, I picked up some Christmas pj's, slippers and some festive bedding.
  2. I love decorating my home for Christmas It always puts a smile on my face. I started adding a few Christmas touches this week. I put the festive bedding on my bed, got out some festive candles and added a few fairy lights around the house.
  3. Going out for lunch and our local m&s cafe. We usually have the afternoon tea for two which is delicious but we were much more hungry this time so we went for the turkey and stuffing pie with mash. It was so tasty and got us feeling even more festive.
  4. Having a cosy Saturday night in, we had snacks, wine and movies on. We turned of all the lights, lit candles, turned on the fairy lights and but the electric fire on. It was so cosy and much warming than being outside.
  5. Actually having a pj day. I use to spend most Sunday's in my pjs but now I usually have a few things to do but this week I just spent the day in my new festive pj's and slippers. They were so cosy and just what I needed.
I hope you've all had a lovely week.

Escaping the world

Growing up, reading was one of my favourite things to do, I loved all the Jaqueline Wilson books and of course the set of Angus thongs and perfecting snogging books. As I got older reading was one of the things that I just stopped doing and forgot about, I guess I just got too busy and found watching telly and going on the Internet was the only was to relax.

Now, there is nothing more perfect then sitting on my own for an hour or two, lighting a candle and getting lost in a good book. There's just something about letting your imagination picture the setting rather than just seeing it on a screen. I can quite often see an afternoon slip away whilst drinking numerous hot drinks and reading yet another one last chapter. I find myself really getting into the characters mind frame and getting lost in there world, it feels like my own little escape from the real world where I can get forget about what is going on whether it be good or bad and just get lost in another place.

When was the last time you picked up a book? Do you have any recommendations?

Things that have made me smile | week 68

Things that have made me smile |
  1. It's been a busy, long, tiring week but also a pretty good one! The first thing that has made me smile this week is having my first festive costa drink. I went for a ginger bread latte as they are my favourite and I couldn't have got through the meeting without it. Costa have brought out so many festive drinks this year, I won't to try them all!
  2. Starting my Christmas shopping! I love buying Christmas presents and wrapping them but I also just love when it is all done. I started getting a few bits this week and can't wait to get it all done.
  3. Receiving my first advent calendar. I opted for a beauty advent calendar this year and my feel unique one arrived this week, it only has 12 days in it so I also ordered the Tanya burr advent calendar too which also had 12 days so I can alternate between them to make it last for 24 days. I can't wait to start counting down the days to Christmas with a new beauty treat everyday.
  4. Booking a random weekend trip to London. We just went for the day and spent it walking around going in and out of shops, visiting the Christmas market and going for lunch. It was a lovely festive day and just what we needed after a busy week.
  5. Having a cosy Sunday, I woke up to a coffee in bed and had a lush bubble bath to start my cosy day. We then spent the day watching a movies and relaxing.
I hope you have all had a lovely week, let me know what has made you smile in the comments below.

November makeup bag

November is one of those between months that doesn't have much going on but I love it. With bonfire night gone I can begin to get festive. Most people say it's to early but the Christmas movie channels are on and the Christmas home wear is slowly starting to appear in my house. The dark cosy nights have begun and all the Autumn leaves have fallen and my makeup bag now fully reflects those gorgeous shades.

During the colder months my skin begins to get dry and always needs extra moisture. This BB cream is perfect, it gives an even all over full coverage and is full of moisturiser! It still gives the same coverage as a foundation but is so much lighter on the skin a great alternative to a heavy foundation.

The moodstruck mineral powder goes perfectly with the BB cream, it's the first powder concealer I have tried and I love it. It's gives amazing coverage and soaks up any excess oil you might have. Although I need the moisturiser from the BB cream I don't want to look shinny or oily, brushing a light layer of this gives a slightly matte finish and covers up any unwanted spots and blemishes.

This is always in and out of my daily makeup bag but being pale I need a warm natural looking bronzer to give me a little bit of colour in the cold months. The benefit hoola bronzer suits pretty much all skin tones and gives a lovely wash of matte bronzer to the cheeks.

I love wearing neutral, soft brown shades on my eyes for a more natural look. The naked palette and the naked 2 palette have the perfect brown shades in the them to create many soft smokey eye looks. I like to create darker and light looks for different occasions and times of day.

MAC lipsticks are most girls favourite lipsticks, mine included, the luxury black packaging and the soft formulas are enough to get you going back for more. The Brown and nude shades are what I'll be wearing this November to finish of my soft, neutral look. Brave, Verve and Velvet teddy are three of my favourite nude shades to wear.

What's in your November makeup bag?

Things that have made me smile | week 67

Bath bomb | Northern lights
Things that have made me smile |
  1. A usually dull Monday was cheered up by it being my birthday! Although I was at work I still had a lovely day, it started of by opening gifts at work, I have a very generous boss/friend! We also had a little party at work too as it was Halloween as well. I then came home to lots of presents and cards from my fiancé, friends and family and a huge chocolate cake! I ended the day going out for tea and having a relaxing bath! The best part is now I can finally sing, I don't know about you but I'm feeling 22!
  2. Having a late Halloween/bonfire party with my fiance's family. We all dressed up a little bit, had a few drinks and watched some fireworks. It always nice catching up with family and we don't get to see my fiancé's sister as much as we would like to so it's always lovely when she can come for the weekend.
  3. My fiancé had to work this Saturday so I spent the day with my mum. We popped in to town, went for some lunch then did a little Christmas shopping. We then joined my partner in the warmth of our home for a nice hot coffee and some birthday cake.
  4. Of course bonfire night was going to be on this list. I love wrapping up warm sitting by a big fire, eating jacket potatoes and watching the fireworks light up the sky.
  5. I use to go to my mums most Sundays for a Sunday roast but I haven't been for a while so going there for that was lovely. I love not having to cook and nothing beats a mums home cooked meal.
I hope you have all had a lovely week and all have something to smile about.

A rare Monday off

Mondays are usually the woe to my week, the thought of setting that alarm on a Sunday evening to wake at half past six on a Monday morning to start a busy week off work makes me a little sad. Although I love my job I don't really know anyone that can whole heartedly say they enjoy the sound of the alarm ringing on a crisp Monday morning.

As I work with children when the half terms roll around I usually get a couple of days off, this one included a Monday which my partner also had of too! Instead of filling the day with lots of plans where we would still have to set that alarm, get up and go!, we opted for a chilled, relaxed Monday. Waking up when we wished, sipping hot coffee in bed whilst we decided what to do with our free day. It was the perfect crisp, not too windy and not too cold autumn day. We dressed in our cosy cloths, winter boots, grab ours coats and headed out to enjoy the day. We went to a local old hall which has some lovely grounds with plenty of space for walking and taking in the sights. We walked round the lovely seanary, taking pictures, talking and laughing not once having to check our phones or the time just getting lost in the nature and each other's company. We threw sticks at conker trees, fed ducks in the pond and chased squirrels.

As the afternoon crept unpon us so did the cold, we headed for the cafe to shake of the cold, enjoy a light lunch and sip on hot drinks before heading home for a hot bubble and a night in front of the telly wrapped in blankets.

It was a wonderfully lazy Monday, one I will cherish as you don't get many Mondays as nice as this one.

What would be your perfect Monday?

November is here. . .

Halloween has gone and the dark nights are drawing in, November has arrived and so have the warm fluffy blankets and hot chocolates. I'm not quite sure how we have reached November all ready but I'm pretty excited for things to start turning a little bit festive.

November comes with a chill in the air, it's time to start layering on the clothes and never leaving the house without your coat. I love spending time outdoors as the last of the leaves begin to fall, exploring new places before shaking of the cold and snuggling under a cosy blanket with the biggest of all the hot chocolates. November is the start of the great tv shows and movies, who's ready for I'm a celebrity?, making staying in on the evenings even better!

I'm excited for Christmas to slowly begin but let's not forget the fireworks first, pretty lights, jacket potatoes and family time make a pretty great evening. What have you got planned for November?

Detoxifying mask

Skin care has become a big part of my daily routine, I've never really had much of a strict skin care routine before but it has helped my skin so much! Face masks have always a thing I've loved doing once every week or so as a bit of a pamper but I've now seen the full benefits of fitting one into my skin care routine. My skin has cleared up so much, it looks healthier and my makeup stays on for a lot longer.

The face mask I've recently introduced to my skin care routine is the Younique detoxifying mask, I've never tried a face mask like it before. You just apply a thin layer all over your face and the mask begins to tingle, foam up and bubble! Sounds a little scary but actually feels quite nice and feels like it is really getting to work on my skin. This helps to improve your skins appearance as it contains bamboo charcoal, can tells asiatica leaf extract, boswellia serrated extract, granactive retinoid and willow bark extract.

I use this 2-3 times a week on an evening, usually when I'm in the bath or just after a shower. You only have to leave it on for 5 minutes so it's really quick and easy to fit into your skin care routine. After You've washed it of you just apply your usually moisturiser and your all done! My skin has never felt more detoxified, it really does clear all of the skin from all the dirt and makeup we out on it daily.

At £38 this face mask is on abit of the pricey side but you get a lot in the tub so you won't be having to buy a new one every week! You can pick it up Here.

Have you been trying out any new skincare products?
