Blogmas day 7 | cinnamon biscuits

Sunday morning, mulled wine candle burning, Christmas music playing and the smell of cinnamon biscuits fills the house. For me that is a perfect Sunday morning. I love them smell and taste of cinnamon I wanted to add it to some simple easy to make biscuits. You can keep them plain or add some icing for added flavour or just to make them look better. They are so quick and easy to bake if you have guest coming round to enjoy with a festive hot chocolate.

  • 150g (5oz) self-raising flour
  • 150g (5oz) plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 125g (4 1/2 oz) butter
  • 100g (3 1/4 oz) sugar
  • 1 egg beaten

  1. Pre heat your oven to 160 degrees c (gas mark 3)
  2. Sift both of the flours and the cinnamon into a bowl
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until it becomes smooth. Then add the beaten egg and mix it together well.
  4. Stir the dry ingredients to the butter, sugar and egg mix and create a firm dough.
  5. Roll it out and cut into your desired shape. I stuck to stars but there are so many Christmas cookie cutters out there.
  6. Place your biscuits on a greased oven tray and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Leave to cool and harden.
  8. Decorate how you wish or just leave them plain to enjoy the cinnamon flavour.
